2011 Fall Ordeal at Camp Fawcett

On October 7-9, 2011 eighty-five Arrowmen from Wahinkto Lodge, our Scout Executive, and several District Executives from all around the Concho Valley Council meet for their Annual Fall Ordeal Induction Weekend at Camp Fawcett. During the weekend campers experienced some much needed rain estimating from up to three inches.  Teamwork and quick thinking helped pull off Saturday’s ceremonies in the Mess Hall during the rain.

Overall members of Wahinkto Lodge experienced cheerful service in the rain, shared only in the bonds of Brotherhood. A special thanks goes out to each individual who help participate in the preparation, and execution of another successful Fall Ordeal.

Camp Improvements:

·         Fence Built on North Side of Camp

·         Quartermaster Cleaned

·         Brush Trimmed Dead Trees Removed

·         Restrooms gutted out

Inductions:

·         20 New Brotherhood Members

·         25 New Ordeal Members

The mission of the Order of the Arrow is to fulfill its purpose as an integral part of the Boy Scouts of

America through positive youth leadership under the guidance of selected capable adults.

As a past Lodge Chief of the Wahinkto Lodge, it gives me great pleasure to see that the Lodge is still running well. I can remember as Lodge Chief, the OA would hold a winter campl at Fawcett for kids who could not afford to go to summer camp. Man did we ever have some cold camping weather over the Christmas Holidays back then. But it was great fun and the kids really appreciated the Lodge's efforts to get them to a camp setting. Keep up the good work guys. Sincerely David N. Perry La Grange, Texas
